Office Hours / 2nd elective

We will follow a block schedule. This means that a course traditionally scheduled to be taught over the course of a year will be taught in one semester. While the pace in a block course is rapid, the student is enrolled in fewer classes.

First semester, students will enroll in 2 cores (Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies) and an elective each quarter. Students who are successful in the first semester will have an option to add 2 electives per quarter in the second semester.

  • Each class period will be a mix of work in the online course (asynchronous and a mix between online and offline learning) and small group time with the teacher (synchronous).

  • Small group time for each course will happen approximately 2 times per week. This schedule will be available at the beginning of each week.

  • Small groups will not be recorded because they are meant to target the specific needs of students in that group and would not be applicable to all students.

  • There may occasionally be time scheduled for the teacher to give specific instructions about the daily assignments to students. When that happens, the instruction will be recorded and available to students.

  • It is suggested that students complete their online coursework within the time frame allotted in the schedule above simply so that there is some structure to their day.

  • For the family or student that needs more flexibility, the online portion may be competed at another time during the day.

  • Some students may take less time and some may take more time than the allotted time period. This is one of the benefits of online learning!  A student can use just the amount of time they need to complete the lesson.
